LFW: Oxford Fashion Studio Feb 17

London Fashion Week is the highlight of every fashionista's social calendar, it’s when the world holds its breath to see the hottest upcoming trends of the seasons to come. 

I was lucky enough to attend the House of Holland ten year anniversary catwalk show at the Victoria & Albert Museum as well as the H! By Henry Holland pop-up event last season. Attending these events evoked my passion for fashion once more, following my previous career in retail. 

With an invite to attend Californian brand Goldsheep’s debut London catwalk show, my fashion blogger friend Phillippa and I couldn't wait to see the upcoming trends for AW17. 

The Oxford Fashion Studio has produced in excess of 85 runway shows since 2009 and had attendees including Anna Wintour, Dolly Jones (Vogue Editor), David Gandy and Caroline Rush from the British Fashion Council. 

Phillippa and I were greeted with prosecco on arrival and were fortunate to be offered tickets to the 5 pm and 7 pm shows as well as the Goldsheep show at 9 pm. 

The designers captivated the audience with a variety of garments including brightly patterned designs from The Prodigal Daughter and block colour clothing with an early 70s vibe from Francesca Phipps. 

Elegant lace in deep red and purple hues was worn by the models for brand Vone, which had the modern Victoriana styling popular during AW16. Their red polka-dot jumpsuit with its 60s styling caught my eye with its eye-catching bow, which drew the outfit in at the waist. 

Bringing a Henry Holland vibe to the Oxford Fashion Studio was cool brand Schmiley Mo with their ‘Story Of Henry’ collection (not Henry Holland, Henry the chicken!), which naturally I loved! Wowing the crowd with their gingham, pom-poms, smiley faces, tassels as well as threaded and sticker patched denim jackets, they are definitely a brand to watch and brought a fun fashion element to the runway. I particularly loved the bag in the collection, which had a beautiful trail of pom-poms; ideal for accentuating an outfit. 

Stalking the brand’s social media, I have also fallen head over heels for the below jacket, which reads ‘I left my heart in bed’ - so me! NEED! 

Talking of bold designs, Goldsheep did not disappoint with their eclectic collection of leggings, which are handmade where the brand originates in California. Proud to be different, Goldsheep is ‘someone who stands out in the crowd. Someone who proudly shines while maintaining their individuality and uniqueness.’ In their London Fashion Week debut, the brand brought their eccentric leggings to the runway with a pair even embossed with a London Underground design. Another brand favourite of mine was Emiah Elliott with the collection ‘Somewhere Nowhere’, which had feminine fabrics and designs in pastel pop colours with added sparkle embellishments. Basically, luxe fabrics, colour, patterns, and embellishments - All the things I love! 

With Spring almost upon us, I would love to wear some of the items from this collection now. This is another brand I have perused online since the event and to learn that the designer, Emiah Elliott has only recently graduated from her fashion design course at the age of 21 is truly amazing, the collection is beautiful and some of the items can be seen in the video below: 

I loved my first London Fashion Week experience at the Oxford Fashion Studio in Devonshire Square and I am excited to see how my favourite brands from the collection develop their styles for upcoming shows.

It was also great to catch up with other bloggers at the event including Eboni (Eboni + Ivory blog) as we have attended a couple of the same events without getting the opportunity to meet. 

As R.Kelly says ‘then after the show, it’s the after party’ and why not. At London hot-spot SushiSamba it would be rude not to, particularly with a queue jump and views over London. After cocktails and numerous photos of the London cityscape, it was time to head back home on the train. Though, I’d love to return for a meal and drinks sometime soon to get the full experience. 

It truly is a beautiful venue and the outdoor terrace was amazingly pretty (as seen below.) 

I do love London and feel inspired by the various trends and street styles, which commemorates its diversity. I can’t wait to see how these runway trends transcend into the high-street as well as observe these young designers as they develop their styles and grow in the fashion industry.
