HOUSE OF HOLLAND: Fashion in Motion

I recently had the pleasure of attending House of Holland: Fashion In Motion at the Victoria & Albert Museum, which was a series of one-off retrospective live catwalk shows held on Friday 21st October to celebrate some of the label’s statement fashion looks over the past ten years.

Being a lover of Henry Holland’s eclectic design, bold colours, eye-catching logos and textures, I knew the ten year celebration at the V&A was not to be missed. Tickets sold out for the evening shows within minutes and upon arrival the event was packed full of fashionistas observing some of the brand’s key trends over the past decade.

The eagerly awaited House of Holland catwalk show did not disappoint in terms of striking fashion pieces with models walking the catwalk in bright colour pop garments, embellished designs and bold styling.

The collection had everything from silk flares to ruffle dresses and sportswear accompanied with knee high socks, lace up shoes and brightly coloured furs.

Henry Holland exploded onto the fashion scene back in 2006 with his daring slogan t-shirts, with catchphrases such as 'GET YOUR FREAK ON GILES DEACON', name-dropping his fashion contemporaries; a sure fire way to stand out in the competitive fashion industry. Bringing his iconic t-shirts to 2016, a special pop-up showcasing his latest designs was on show inside the V&A with catchphrases such as 'I DON’T SMOKE WEED I’D RATHER SUCK ON GIGI HADID' and 'LET’S BREED BELLA HADID' plastered over his t-shirts and phone cases.

The Raphael Gallery at the V&A is a beautiful venue, no wonder it has been the chosen venue for iconic fashion houses such as Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood to commemorate a succession of fashion trends over the decades.

Trends come and go over the years and it inspiring to watch some of the most eclectic and memorable fashion pieces from some of the greatest designers come to life once more on the catwalk.
